About Stephany Bauer

Meet Stephany

A proud South Texas native (Puro 956), Stephany Bauer is an educator, public-health professional, community advocate, wife, and mom of four. Raised in a multiracial home in La Feria by teachers, she learned hard work, service, and giving back—values that guide her today.

Rooted in the Valley
For more than a decade, Stephany has worked at the intersection of education and community health. After La Feria High School, she earned her B.A. in Education from UT-Pan American and a master’s from UTRGV. She is completing her Doctor of Public Health at UTHealth Houston, researching how policy and education can improve health outcomes in communities like ours.

Teacher, Mentor, Neighbor
Stephany began her career in the classroom, helping students find their voice and path. Outside school, she volunteers free community exercise classes, believing that healthy families build stronger neighborhoods.

Policy Experience That Delivers
In 2024, Stephany was a Graduate Archer Fellow in Washington, D.C. She later served through the Texas Legislative Fellowship Program in the Texas Senate, working on public-health legislation and constituent casework—experience she’ll bring to Austin.

Why She’s Running
As a mother and lifelong South Texan, Stephany has seen our region’s resilience—and the gaps we must fix. She’s running to bring compassion, accountability, and practical solutions to Austin—a voice that listens and delivers for HD-37.

What She Stands For

Lower Costs & Property Tax Relief
Families are stretched thin. Stephany will fight to lower the cost of living and protect homeowners by:

  • Targeting property tax relief that reaches working and middle-class families, not just large interests.

  • Cracking down on junk fees and predatory practices that drive up bills.

  • Bringing state dollars home for infrastructure and services so local governments aren’t forced to raise taxes to cover basics.

Strong Public Schools & Respect for Teachers
As an educator and mom, Stephany believes every child deserves a great neighborhood school. She will:

  • Respect and retain teachers with competitive pay, classroom resources, and less political interference.

  • Keep politics out of classrooms so teachers can teach and students can learn.

  • Expand career and college pathways—CTE, dual-credit, and STEM—so students graduate ready for good jobs here in the Valley.

Water, Infrastructure & Flood Resilience
Reliable infrastructure is foundational to health, safety, and growth. Stephany will:

  • Invest in water systems and drainage so neighborhoods don’t flood when it rains and families have clean, dependable water.

  • Accelerate shovel-ready projects by cutting red tape and coordinating state, local, and federal funds.

  • Fix roads and connectors that help small businesses, commuters, and first responders move safely and efficiently.

Accountability & Access

  • Listen first: regular town halls and open office hours across HD-37.

  • Be accountable: transparent budgets and plain-language explanations of every vote.

  • Be accessible: bilingual services and a district office that returns calls and solves problems.

“When we invest in people, we build a stronger Texas.”
Stephany is proud to stand with South Texas families, educators, workers, and the next generation of leaders.
